Rural Compassion is a national initiative supporting the rural poor, the most underserved and overlooked population in America, focusing on but not limited to those communities existing of only 2500 households or less. To effectively address the needs of these impoverished rural communities, Rural Compassion partners with churches to: - Appropriately assess the needs of their community;
- Recognize the resources of people, finances and facilities each local church has to offer to their community;
- Identify services to the needy currently in place within the community with which they may potentially partner;
- Develop a joint action plan between the church and existing community services to address these needs.
Founded in 2003 by Steve and Rebecca Donaldson, Rural Compassion is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. Our staff have 60+ collective years of ministry encompassing every aspect of church ministry, both rural and metro, including a wide range of non-church specialties such as literacy, teaching and school administration, warehousing food/supplies and food distribution, trucking and transportation logistics, and disaster management. RC team members have led and facilitated mission trips throughout the U.S., and Steve Donaldson has served in over 30 countries during his ministry.
